Individual Therapy
Are we a match?
The fit between client and therapist is critical to success. During the consultation, I highly encourage clients to bring questions with them. Two of my core values are honesty and transparency and as the client, you deserve to know who is walking with you on this journey.
I also do not work with everyone and look for qualities in clients. These qualities include, willing to practice new skills outside of session, willingness to show up consistently to session, and understanding that therapy is a reciprocal relationship–you get out what you put in. If we end up discovering that we are not the best match, no worries, I can assist with a referral.
What Therapy Leads To
I believe in the transformative power of psychotherapy tailored to your unique needs. Our client-centered approach ensures that every session is focused on your individual goals and concerns, providing a safe and supportive environment for exploration and growth.
I am dedicated to delivering customized care that goes beyond traditional approaches. I understand that no two individuals are alike, which is why I take the time to develop personalized treatment plans designed to address your specific challenges and aspirations.
My approach is focused on helping you work toward overcoming obstacles, enhancing well-being, and making meaningful, lasting positive changes.
What is my process?
Once your initial appointment has been scheduled, then we will conduct an assessment to gather information to outline your treatment priorities.
The information gathered from the assessment will then be used to provide psychoeducation about presenting issues and inform what is covered during subsequent sessions.
Over time, many clients notice increased awareness, emotional vocabulary, and nervous system regulation—which can support improved confidence and feelings of empowerment.
Throughout this journey together, you will also have frequent check-ins with me about what is working for you and areas that require a pivot. Your input is crucial to a successful therapeutic relationship.
As you meet your therapy goals, we will talk about phasing out of treatment.
How I Align Therapeutically
How I Show Up for the Person
The foundation of this work is the unwavering belief that the person sitting across from me carries inherent worth that is not contingent on their productivity, their progress in therapy, or their ability to meet any standard. Unconditional positive regard is not a technique applied at the start of session. It is the ground I stand on, and it does not move. For clients whose nervous systems learned early on that love, safety, and acceptance were conditional on performance, the consistent experience of being fully received without condition is not the backdrop to treatment — it is often the most powerful intervention in the room.
You're the expert on your own life — I'm just here to help you navigate it. I bring the training, the tools, and the knowledge of how people heal, but you decide what we work on, how fast we go, and what actually matters. If something I suggest doesn't feel right, that's not a problem — that's important information, and I want to hear it. This isn't me guiding you toward answers I already have. This is us figuring out together what's true for you.
Modalities:
The modalities I use most frequently include: EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I also incorporate somatic concepts and practices into my work.
CBT gives the client a map of their patterns and a structure for change. Somatic-informed work gives the nervous system enough safety to actually use that map. ACT gives the client a relationship to their inner experience that makes sustained action possible even when thoughts and feelings remain difficult — which, for most people, they reliably will. And EMDR goes beneath the map entirely — to the memory networks and early experiential roots where these patterns were first learned as survival strategies — and processes them at the level where they were encoded, so that present-day triggers no longer carry the full weight of everything that came before them.
